The Balancing Act Presents: Best Moments from the 2024 Oscars

Just like that, the 2024 awards season has come to an end!

The 2024 Oscars was on Sunday, March 10, and Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered at the Dolby Theatre to celebrate the achievements in film this year. The award show was filled with a ton of surprise guests, performances, and first-time winners.

If you missed the 2024 Oscars, don’t worry! The Balancing Acts have you covered. Here is a list of the best moments from the 2024 Oscars

John Cena Presents an Award… Naked

John Cena had a hilarious moment in which he presented the award for Best Costume Design with nothing but an oversized envelope. While all of the other attendees wore their traditional gowns and tuxedos, Cena wore nothing. I guess he didn’t get the memo?

Cena’s comedic skit made headlines after host Jimmy Kimmel invited Cena on stage to pay homage to the 1974 Oscars streaker incident. Holly Waddington ended up taking home the Oscar for Best Costume Design for ‘Poor Things.’

Ryan Gosling Performs ‘I’m Just Ken’

One of the biggest highlights from the night was Ryan Gosling performing his hit song ‘I’m Just Ken’ from the Barbie movie. Gosling brought the audience to their feet as he dashed in his bedazzled pink suit. He started the song sitting in the audience next to Billie Eilish and his co-star Margot Robbie. Gosling made his way to the stage where a ton of different Kens who co-stared with him joined on stage like Scott Evans, Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Ncuti Gatwa as well as musicians Mark Ronson, Slash, and Wolfgang Van Halen.

‘I’m Just Ken’ was nominated for an Oscar this year, but the award ended up going to another song from Barbie. ‘What Was I Made For?’ by Billie Eilish took home the prize.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito Reunite on Stage

Nearly 30 years after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito starred together in the 1988 classic ‘Twins,’ the two Hollywood legends took the stage as presenters. While on stage the two icons gave a shoutout to their shared history.

“Look at everybody. Look at that, very nice. Well, Arnold and I are presenting together, for a very obvious,” DeVito said.

“We both tried to kill Batman,” Schwarzenegger said, referencing to his role as Mr. Freeze in 1997’s Batman & Robin. DeVito portrayed the Penguin in 1992’s Batman Returns.

“Where is he? There he is! He’s right here,” DeVito said. Pointing to Michael Keaton who portrayed Batman in Batman Returns.

“You have a lot of nerve showing your face around here,” Schwarzenegger joked.

Michael Keaton played along with their joke. The skit brought a smile and laughter to the audience and was a highlight of the night for sure!

Messi the Dog Takes His Seat

There were many stars out on Hollywood’s biggest night, but there was one special guest: Messi! But not the star soccer, the dog from ‘Anatomy of a Fall.’ Host Jimmy Kimmel praised the dog during his opening monologue saying, “Messi, who even though he’s a dog, may have given the performance of the year in ‘Anatomy of the Fall.’

Beetlejuice Reunion

Michael Keaton and Catherine O’Hara had a Beetlejuice reunion on stage 35 years after their film debuted. The two icons presented the award for Best Production Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Both of the awards went to the team behind Poor Things. The reunion gave us a tease of what is yet to come, Beetlejuice 2, a sequel to the original movie is set to release later this year. Keaton and O’Hara reprise their roles along with Winona Ryder and newcomer Jenna Ortega.
