The Academy Awards have come and gone. The 2024 Oscars were held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday and some of Hollywood’s biggest names were in attendance. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the award show once again. While juggernaut films like Oppenheimer and Poor Things took home multiple awards.

Best Picture
Oppenheimer took home the biggest prize of the night for Best Picture of 2024. The film was the second largest box office success in 2023, runner-up to Barbie. Oppenheimer has had quite the award season picking up best picture awards at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and SAG Awards. The starred studded cast included Robert Downey Jr. (who won Best Supporting Actor at the 2024 Oscars), Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, and more.
Best Actor
Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy is officially an Oscar winner. This was the first nomination of Murphy’s career. The Irish star won Best Actor during the 2024 Academy Awards for his portrayal of the father of the atomic bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer.
The award was presented to him by previous winners in the category including Brendan Fraser, Nicolas Cage, Matthew McConaughey, Ben Kingsley, and Forrest Whitaker.
Best Actress
Emma Stone won her second Oscar on Sunday night for her part in the Oscar-winning film, ‘Poor Things.’ Stone was very emotional as she accepted the award.
“The other night I was panicking, which as you can kind of see, happens a lot, that maybe something like this could happen,” said Stone. She mentioned Yorgos Lanthimos, the director of ‘Poor Things’ gave her advice to ‘Please take yourself out of it.’
“And he’s right because it’s not about me.” Stone said.
Oscar-winning actress thanked her castmates and the film’s crew. The award was presented by previous winners in the category including Jessica Lange, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Sally Field, and Michelle Yeoh.

Best Director
Christopher Nolan took home the Oscar for Best Director for Oppenheimer. This was Nolan’s eighth nomination across two decades and his first win. This was a long-deserving win for the legendary director who has made Oscar-winning films like Memento, The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, and Inception.
The award was presented to him by the iconic Steven Spielberg. Later in the night, he won his second Oscar for Oppenheimer winning Best Picture.
Best Original Song
Billie Eilish continues to make more history it seems every award show. The Grammy-winning artist is now a two-time Oscar winner at 22. Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell, won Best Original Song for their Barbie hit, “What Was I Made For?” She is now the youngest person to ever win two Oscars.
