After being delayed due to the Hollywood strikes, TV’s biggest night of the year, the Emmy Awards, happened! All of your favorite celebrities hit the red carpet and accepted their deserving awards.

The 2024 Emmys were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday night. Anthony Anderson, an actor notable for his role in Black-ish, hosted the evening for the award show’s 75th anniversary.

Here are some key moments from the night.

Succession

Succession won its sixth Emmy for “Outstanding Drama Series.” Creator and screenwriter Jesse Armstrong accepted the award with some of the cast and crew alongside him on stage. “We’re so honored, we loved making this show,” Armstrong said.

Succession wrapped its final season last year. Although fans beg for a spin-off from the show’s creator, that notion has been shut down. Matthew MacFadyen, actor on the show who played Tom Wambsgans says a spin-off is “Highly unlikely.”

The Bear

The Bear continued to bring in wins this award season by walking away with the Emmy for “Outstanding Comedy Series.” Matty Matheson shouted out the restaurant and hospitality industry while accepting the award.

Other stars from the hit FX series walked away with an Emmy including Jeremy Allen White for “Outstanding Lead Actor” in a Comedy Series and Ayo Edebiri for “Outstanding Supporting Actress” in a Comedy Series.

Edebiri gave a shoutout to her family in her acceptance speech, thanking them for allowing her to do what she loves. “Probably not a dream to immigrate to this country to have your child be like ‘I want to do improv,’ but you’re real ones,” she joked.

Elton John Makes History

Elton John became the 19th member of the EGOT club after his win for outstanding variety special for his Disney+ concert, “Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.” The Rocket Man singer was not in attendance to accept the award, but sent a statement, “I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight,” John said.

To top this outstanding 75th Emmy Awards, there were a few cast reunions including The Sopranos, The Martians, Cheers, and Grey’s Anatomy. The award show included a touching tribute to those who have died since the last Emmy Awards in September 2022.

Emotional Tribute

Singers Charlie Puth and The War and Treaty delivered an emotional performance of “See You Again” and “I’ll Be There For You” (Friends’ theme song). Some of the stars that were honored include Norman Lear, Adan Canto, Angus Cloud, Leslie Jordan, Len Goodman, Bob Barker, Suzanne Somers, and Andre Braugher. The tribute ended with “Friends” actor Matthew Perry who passed away on Oct. 28.
