Taylor Swift has done it again, but this time at the box office as she has now shattered records.

Swift’s concert film ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ was released on Oct. 12 and Swifties have been flocking to the theaters. The film earned an estimated $96 million, just shy of $100 million, domestically over the opening weekend. This beat out the top spot for the most successful commercial concert film of all time. Beating out the 2010 film ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never,’ which earned $73 million at the box office opening weekend.

According to AMC Theatres, ‘The Eras Tour’ brought in $100 million in advance ticket sales across the globe. It was the highest ticket sales revenue in a single day under 24 hours breaking an AMC U.S. record.

Taylor Swift Saving Movie Theaters

The reality is that Taylor Swift is saving a dying industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, one industry that took a massive hit was movie theaters.

As at-home streaming continues to rise, people are questioning the relevance of movie theaters today. Many theaters around the country shut down due lack of ticket sales. During a crucial time for theaters, the concert film could help revive the movie experience. The Hollywood actor’s strike also leaves a gap of new content being created, leaving theaters with little to no new content to offer to the public.

Swift has a huge dedicated and loyal fan base so expect theaters around the world to show up for this experience. Some experts believe fans may see the film multiple times. One thing for certain is never doubt Swifites!
