How safe are the foods you eat? Megan Westgate, Executive Director of the Non-GMO Project, joins us to tell us all about GMOs—genetically modified organisms, which can be found in as much as 80-percent of our food. But how safe are they? Many of the foods that are most popular with children contain GMOs. Cereals, snack bars, snack boxes, cookies, processed lunch meats, and crackers all contain large amounts of high risk food ingredients. Many processed foods in general, contain GMOs. More than 60 countries require labels on GMOs.. and many have severe restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. The U.S. and Canada are two of the only developed nations in the world without GMO labeling.
