Kate Middleton has announced to the world that she has cancer.

The Princess of Wales revealed she is undergoing chemotherapy in a personal video message shared on March 22. The news came after weeks of speculation on the Princess of Wales’s health following her “planned abdominal surgery” in January.

Personal Video Message

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” she said in a personal video message. She shared that after her surgery following tests, it was determined that “cancer had been present.”

Kate Middleton Out of the Public Eye

Princess Kate was out of the public eye before this announcement. The princess shared that she and her husband Prince William were managing her health privately “for the sake of our young family” as they tried to find an appropriate way to tell their them. The couple share three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” she said in her video.

Royal Family’s Request for Privacy

Princess Kate did not specify the type of cancer she has been diagnosed with in her video message. Following her video, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said, “We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do.”

This news comes a few months after King Charles was diagnosed with cancer.
