Actinic Keratosis or AK is the most common pre-cancer affecting 58 million Americans. Untreated, it can develop into squamous cell carcinoma or SCC, the second most common form of skin cancer. Photodynamic therapy or PDT is a well established, non-invasive, irradiation-free treatment option dermatologists use for the treatment of AK to prevent further progression. An advancement in the field is the new field-directed Ameluz-PDT using a cold red LED light source.
