Carnival Corporation and fathom™bring together a passion for travel with making a difference with new social impact travel idea on the Balancing Act®’s Be the Change series on Lifetime®

(POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – PR LOG – November 25, 2015) There’s a new way to “Be the Change” on the high seas. The award-winning morning show The Balancing Act® will feature fathom™, a new brand in the Carnival Corporation family in their “Be the Change” series on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 7:30 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime® to talk about fathom’s new travel idea called social impact travel.  An encore presentation of the show will air on December 4, 2015.

The “Be the Change” series highlights how corporate America is empowering people to build better lives. Join host Julie Moran and Tara Russell, President of fathom™, and Global Impact Leader, Carnival Corporation as they cruise through a discussion on this pioneering experience that offers people authentic, meaningful impact travel and the opportunity to work alongside locals as they tackle community needs.

Fathom™ is a one-of-a-kind, truly unique travel experience that lets the adventurous not only see the world, but impact it for good.  The brainchild of Russell and Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald, who recognized a group of travelers eager to change lives and not just go on a cruise vacation, the two collaborated to create voyages where travelers can learn about another country’s culture and its needs, sail there, then complete immersive, meaningful activities focused on education, the environment and economic development based on one’s personal passions and skills.

Unlike other service learning trips, fathom™ provides an accessible, safe, high-value experience where travelers serve in partnership with proven, trusted local organizations on the ground that leads to enduring positive impact on both the traveler, and the local community they serve.

Fathom™’s first impact destination will be the Puerto Plata region of the Dominican Republic in April 2016.  To learn how to Be the Change on the high seas, go to: www.fathom.org
