Rare at Heart, What Makes Us Tick: Rare Disease Day 2021
February 24, 2021
A SPECIAL TO COMMEMORATE to RARE DISEASE DAY 2021
The Balancing Act is commemorating Rare Disease Day 2021 with brand-new special: “Rare at Heart, What Makes us Tick.” Rare Disease Day is an observance held on the last day of February to shine a light on rare diseases and the impact they have on patients’ lives.
We talk to 3 WEGO Health patient leaders, Kelly Barendt and William Yank, who are both TikTok stars, as well as Travis Flores, a rare, third double-lung transplant recipient.
We also speak with Lisa Sarfaty of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) to learn how the organization has expressed support for the approximately 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease.
