If you’re a mother you know you work extra hard to take care of the home, the kids, your job, partner, parents, etc. You divide yourself into millions of pieces to be able to keep your household together for those you love. Often, mothers put aside their own needs and own personal time to help those around them and end up forgetting that they need to be taken care of as well! We understand that you’re busy and might have millions of things to do, but we are here to encourage you to take at least 30 minutes of the day to sit down and enjoy time with yourself. You don’t have to sit down do a face mask or go to the salon or do anything time-consuming. You can take care of yourself simply by spending 5 minutes doing something you like. If you don’t know what that looks like, keep reading.

Turn the Music Up

This can be an extremely therapeutic way of getting your chores done while also taking time to enjoy yourself. Believe it or not, there can be enjoyment in your daily tasks! A mantra to remember is the following:  if you need to get it done, the best way to do it is to put a smile on your face and make it enjoyable instead of complaining about it and doing it unhappily. So, do you need to clean your kitchen, bathroom, house? Great! Grab the duster, and dust off your dancing shoes while you’re at it. Play some of your favorite music and voila, it’s a cleaning dance party.

Listen To Your Favorite Podcast

Working can be challenging. No matter the kind of job that you have, sometimes we need a distraction or something that soothes us to help us keep going. That’s why podcasts are so amazing! Listening to podcasts can make you feel less lonely, while also entertaining you with facts, stories, conversations, and much more. So if you have a tedious job that allows you to multitask, put on some of your favorite podcasts to help the time pass by!

Take Breaks

It is common for people to overwork themselves so much that they reach a level of tiredness called burnout. This is when your brain simply gives up and can’t concentrate or work anymore. This is achieved when people work nonstop and don’t give themselves enough breaks or rest. One simple way to avoid burnout and make your work more pleasant is to take breaks and establish rewards. Setting a goal and allowing yourself to take a 10-minute break or eat a snack after you complete your goal can help to motivate you. For example, establish that every 5 pages you write, you can take a 10-minute break or eat a cookie. This will make the effort worth it and it will prevent burnout in the long run.

Working is necessary, but most importantly, it is necessary to have good mental health and feel good about the work you are doing. If you are waking up dreading your tasks or job, try making some adjustments to your daily routine so that your chores don’t feel draining. If you have to get it done, it is best to do it in a way that gives you pleasure rather than in a way that gives you stress.
