Raw honey is extremely underrated. Some people only see it as a sweetener that comes out of a bee’s butt, but honey has amazing properties that can be a game-changer for your health. Throughout history, raw honey has been used as a cough medicine, face mask, folk remedy, and even in hospitals to treat wounds. Honey can be amazing, and it is so easy to implement it in your daily routine. If you want to learn more about its benefits and how to use honey, keep reading, honey!

First off, the reason why honey can be so amazing and have multiple benefits to humans is that raw honey gets many properties from plants. One of these properties is a polyphenol. Polyphenol acts as an antioxidant, which helps your body get rid of free radicals that can cause aging and health problems. Another property found in raw honey that acts as an antioxidant is phytonutrients. This property comes from plants, and it is what helps the plant keep safe from external threats like radiation and insects. Consuming this property can also help humans keep safe. Phytonutrients not only act as antioxidants in humans, but they also serve as anti-fungal and antibacterial! The reason why honey is used to treat wounds is specifically because of its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.

As you can see so far, honey has amazing benefits, but it doesn’t stop there. As it also has anti-inflammatory properties, honey can also be used to treat sore throats, coughs, and can be very beneficial to the skin when applied as a face mask! Due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits, honey can be used to treat acne and hydrate the skin.

Now that you know about some of the amazing benefits that honey can provide, it is time to start implementing honey in your daily routine. But how can you consume honey on a daily, you ask? Well, it’s simple! Honey can be used as a natural sweetener, as a condiment, and even raw. Below are some of how you can consume honey for your benefit.

  1. In tea or coffee

If you are someone who loves to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea, you can very easily start implementing honey in your tea recipes. Instead of using sugar or artificial sweeteners, try putting in a spoonful or two of honey. Not only this will make your tea extra sweet, but you are also getting all these amazing properties!

Although it might sound like a weird combination, honey in coffee can also work in some cases! If you drink coffee with milk and like it sweet, try adding honey instead of sugar! Even our beloved Starbucks does it in their famous Honey Almondmilk Cold Brew drink.

  1. On toast

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are great. They provide a great level of fullness, but they also have that sweet taste to them, which is great for the sweet tooths out there. A variation of this combination that includes honey is peanut butter and honey, or even butter and honey on top! Honey is a great sweetener, but it is also very versatile and can also be used as a condiment for your bread in the morning or evening.

  1. With fruit

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! Especially with honey! Everyone needs to eat fruit, but sometimes you need something a little sweeter than just an apple to make the craving go away. Next time you eat fruit, try adding honey to it. Either drizzle it on top or dip the fruit in the honey. Some fruits that work with this trick are apples, bananas, strawberries, and many others! This will add the perfect sweetness to your fruit, and it won’t be as boring anymore! Plus, fruit and honey are both extremely healthy and go deliciously together!

  1. With oatmeal

Oatmeal is very healthy, but it also can be very bland and not as tasty. Now, this won’t be the case. There are many ways to make oatmeal sweeter and more delicious, like adding chocolate, chocolate powder, etc. However, these additions don’t make oatmeal healthy, but honey does! Instead of sweetening your oatmeal with chocolate, Nutella, or things of the sort, try adding a drizzle of honey, some fruit, and peanut butter. This is the perfect, healthy combination for a delicious breakfast or snack.

  1. As a cough drop

Whenever you get sick, your throat might hurt a lot and you might also cough a lot. No one likes to feel like that, but honey can be your best friend. As was mentioned previously, honey can be used as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. If you ever encounter yourself with a cold and a sore throat, try taking two spoonfuls of raw honey and your throat is guaranteed to feel better.

See? We told you honey is amazing and versatile! Now that you know about the awesome benefits of honey and the various ways to use it daily, you can try these out for yourself and see how great you feel. Remember, raw or unpasteurized honey works the best! If you need a suggestion of what honey to buy, check this one out here!
