Today, there is an illiteracy epidemic that has millions of Americans gripped in a vicious cycle of poverty.  Three out of every four people on welfare can’t read – clear evidence of the fact that reading is the #1 determining factor of success in life.  And here’s an even more powerful fact:  helping your child get the right start in life is much easier than you think!  Point out road signs on the drive to preschool.  Talk about fruits and vegetables with your kids during grocery shopping.  The Nemours Foundation believes every child should have access to the tools they need to read.  Thanks to the Nemours Reading BrightStart! Program, parents now have free access to recommended books, hundreds of easy, fun at-home reading activities, a list of pre-reading milestones for eight age groups, and even advice from Nemours’ early literacy experts – and it’s all free at readingbrightstart.org!
